Mark Adam Jaramillo

Mark Adam Jaramillo, 38, of Kansas City, formerly of Topeka, died September 27, 2008. 

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 19, 1970 the son of John G. and Guadalupe (Chavez) Jaramillo.

Mark was a graduate of Hayden High School in 1988 and received a degree in Criminal Management from Bellevue University in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the 101st Airborne.  He was also on the military boxing team. 

Mark was a police officer for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department for five years and had recently transferred to the SWAT team.  He had also been a Parole Officer for the State of Kansas.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas and a past member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Topeka.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus both in Topeka and Kansas City.

Mark will be remembered for his devotion to his family and friends.  He was always ready to help someone. Mark was very proud of his heritage and enjoyed Mexican food and any good meal.  He liked to watch movies and play with his dogs. 

Mark enjoyed boxing and had been a member of the Golden Gloves both in Topeka and Kansas City.  He also enjoyed running.  Mark was a volunteer for benefits to raise money for Guns and Hoses, which helped widows and families of Police Officers and Firefighters who died in the line of duty.

Mark married Kristine Avila in Kansas City, Kansas on July 18, 1997.  She survives of the home.  He is also survived by his parents, John and Guadalupe Jaramillo of Topeka, his siblings, Fr. Peter Jaramillo of Kansas City, Ks., Tony Jaramillo (Rachel) of Topeka, Daniel Jaramillo of Topeka, John Jaramillo (Holly) of Topeka, Mary Loya (Steve) of Olathe, Frank Jaramillo (Rosanna) of Washington D.C., Tom Jaramillo (Julie) of Topeka and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Pauline Avila and father-in-law Frank Robleado both of Kansas City, Ks.

He will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday from 4-7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., and at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Kansas City, Ks. on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and  a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Guns and Hoses, the Society of St. Augustine or the Humane Society, and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
