He was born on March 19, 1934, in Severance, Kansas, and was raised on the family farm outside Denton. Warren attended a small rural grade school and graduated from Denton High School.

After retirement, he continued a life of service by volunteering at the Topeka Public Library and Mater Dei School, offering time, connection, and support to his community. Warren liked to read, especially John Grisham books and westerns. He also cheered on the Jayhawks and the Chiefs.
