Virgil Waldo, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Midland Hospice House.
He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Christine (Nelson) Waldo and Raymond Ralph Waldo. He attended Topeka schools and Clarks Business School and Toastmasters program.
Virgil married Dona Hockett on February 9, 1953, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She survives of the home.
Virgil served 4 years in the United States Navy. After his discharge in 1956, he worked at Supply Depot, then DuPont, when it came to Tecumseh in 1958. After retirement in 1985, from DuPont, Virgil worked at the State of Kansas and delivered prescriptions part time for Dillons.
Dona and Virgil had a vacation home in Bella Vista, Arkansas, where the family loved to gather and play lots of golf. Virgil played golf with the Jelly Bellies in Bella Vista. He and his son John played many tournaments together thru the years at Cypress in Topeka, as well as other courses.
He leaves behind his wife, Dona Waldo of Topeka; sons, Rick Waldo (Pat) of Joplin, MO, Ralph Waldo of Topeka, Virgil Ray Waldo Jr. of Topeka, and John Waldo (LaDonna) of Topeka; daughters, Barb Schmidtlein of Topeka, Kay White (Ted) of Lake Havasu, AZ; and a special niece, Pam Scott of Phoenix, AZ.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; a baby daughter, Carol Denise Waldo; grandson, Shawn Waldo; sisters, Alice Smith and Ruth McBurney; brother, Ken Waldo; and daughter-in-law, Marsha Waldo.
Graveside services will be at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 25, at Mission Center Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
