Vincent Paul Zabala, age 57, of Silver Lake, KS, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
He was born the son of Gilbert Zabala and Rose (Ortega) Vega on April 28, 1966, in Panorama City, CA.
Vincent graduated from Silver Lake High School. He then furthered his education by attending and graduating from Highland Community College with his associate degree. From there, Vincent obtained his Bachelor of Science from Friends University in Wichita. He retired from Hill’s Pet Nutrition in 2020 and was currently employed at the Walmart Distribution Center as an Enviromental Health & Safety Associate (EHS). Vincent will be remembered as a hard worker throughout his life and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Rose and Moises Vega; five brothers, Ken Zabala and his wife Theresa, David Zabala and his wife Karmen, Craig Zabala and his wife Cherie, Sipriano Vega, and Ronnie Vega and his wife Kelly; two sisters, Bernadette Willmon, Margarita Henderson and her husband Lance. Other survivors include a loving extended family of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Zabala; brother-in-law, William Wilmon; aunt, Mary Escalante; maternal grandparents, Raymond, Sr., and Virgina Ortega and by his paternal grandparents, Guillermo and Ramona Zabala.
Vincent will lie in state on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with the family being present from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A rosary will take place at 6:00 P.M., all at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, July 14, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
Memorial contributions can be made in Vincent’s memory to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
