Stephen Kent Imming, “Ski”, age 74, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at The Healthcare Resort of Topeka.

He was born the son of the late Gerald Louis and Mary Frances (Murray) Imming on September 30, 1949, in Topeka, KS.

Stephen was a 1967 graduate of Hayden High School and received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Washburn University. Stephen pursued a career in the IT field as a computer systems programmer / analyst. He was employed by the Department of Defense. After being stationed in several states and in Germany, Stephen retired in 2005. He then moved back to his hometown of Topeka.

Stephen volunteered extensively with Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) of the Topeka Police Department. He was promoted to Lieutenant with VIPS. Stephen treasured the many people he worked with in the law enforcement community.

In his spare time, Stephen was an avid KU athletics fan, and enjoyed traveling, particularly on cruises. Stephen appreciated listening to music and collected several thousand albums, primarily focusing on jazz.

Survivors include brother, Christopher Imming and wife Colleen (McCaffrey); sister, Kathleen Imming McCoy and husband Steven all of Topeka; nephew, Kevin Imming (Gretchen Bradley) and their children, Jack & Alexandra; nephew, Daniel Imming (Kayce von Leonrod) and their children, Isla & Mason; niece, Valerie Imming Glotzbach (Keith) and their children, August “Gus,” Isabella & Ethan; nephew, John Imming (Rene Scott) and their children, Grayson, Harrison & Allison; niece, Colleen McCoy Newman (James) and their children, Lindsey & Dinah; nephew, Shane McCoy and his children, Caylen & Christian; nephew, Ryan McCoy (Amanda); and niece, Ann McCoy Kuermaier (Kevin).

Stephen will lie in state from 9-10:00 A.M., on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Police Department-VIPS Program. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
