Shirley Motsinger

Shirley Motsinger, 85, of El Dorado, formerly of Topeka, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2021 at Homestead in El Dorado.

She was born in Atchison, Kansas on November 5, 1935 the daughter of John William and Winnifred Theresa (Conn) Ellyson. 

She worked as a Pharmacy Technician for several pharmacies and most recently before her retirement she worked at the Continental Pharmacy.

Shirley enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, embroidery, baking and going to “Club” which was a monthly meeting of her high school friends that met for many years.  She was also a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother and ran day camps for the girl scouts.  While she lived in Hiawatha she was a member of the Sorosis study group. 

Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church and her faith was important to her.

She married Larry Alan Motsinger in Atchison, Kansas on May 5, 1957.  He predeceased her on February 19, 2014.  She is survived by a son Jay Motsinger and his wife Michelle of Burlingame, Ks, a daughter Susan Holthaus and her husband Fred of El Dorado, Ks, her grandchildren, Mark (Kristi) Holthaus, Megan Holthaus, Jessica Motsinger and Nicholas Motsinger, and her great grandchildren, Andrew, Lucas, Tatum, Ellyson, Marley, Cami and Raivyn, and her sister Connie Enzbrenner (Russ Durkin) of Alma, Kansas.

Shirley will lie in state on Saturday, June 26^th at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where her family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. follow by a service at 11:00 a.m.  Graveside services will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Atchison, Kansas at 3:00 p.m.

Shirley's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care extended to their mother during her stay at Homestead of El Dorado.  Your kindness and care have meant so much.
