Sharon Sue (Mitchell) Tipton, 80, of Raymore, Missouri, formerly of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 18, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Frances Ellen Mitchell and Marvin Carr.

Sharon grew up on the family farm and loved riding and taking care of horses.  She attended schools in Topeka, graduating from Topeka High School in 1961.

She owned a successful grocery store and later was a teller at a bank.  At the age of 50, she earned a license as a dog groomer, and enjoyed that very much.

Sharon was a member of Rock Brook Church in Belton, Missouri and at one point was a deacon at her church in Ponca City, Oklahoma.  She was a very talented quilter, pianist, and singer, singing in the church choir.  She also enjoyed golfing, water skiing, and camping.

Survivors include a daughter, Kimberlee Broadhead of Raymore, Missouri; a son, Louis Guy Broadhead Jr. and wife Cynthia of Piney, Arkansas; grandchildren, Daniel Ray Newman, Ashlee Nichole McCord, Sarah Elizabeth Molnar, Leah Renae Light, and Levi Roger Broadhead; 12 grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clarence Mitchell; and sister, Shirley Green.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am-12:00pm, Friday, April 19, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66603, and graveside services will be at 12:30pm, Friday, April 19, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th St. Topeka, KS 66604.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Helping Hands Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
