Sean S. Harris

November 18, 1967 — April 18, 2024

Topeka

Sean S. Harris, 56, of Topeka, KS, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 18, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on November 18, 1967, in Topeka, the son of Roxie (Black) and Harold Harris. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1986. He went on to get an Education Degree from Kansas University in 1993.

Sean worked in the Seaman school district for 31 years. During this time, he shaped the lives of hundreds of students.  He was probably most remembered for teaching Spanish, and later, 7th grade social studies, but he also loved coaching basketball, and leading summer weights camps.   Mr. Harris was one of a kind with a big personality and was always there for students when they needed a person to lean on.

Sean married Amy (Albright) at their home on New Year’s Eve of 2021.  He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Addison Keegan-Harris and her spouse, Lou Woody, and his son, Tenzin. Other survivors include his parents, Roxie and Harold, his brother Shane and his wife Dawn. Sean loved all children and always had a way of becoming a second dad to many, including Sydney and Kiersten aka Doris, and the boys of Holiday Park.

Sean was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family has chosen to celebrate due to Sean’s love of life. His family will be hosting a celebration of life on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Reynolds Lodge Shelter House at Lake Shawnee. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Current students of Seaman middle and high schools will have a separate opportunity to celebrate Sean’s memory; details forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations in Sean’s memory made payable to Amy Harris for Tenzin’s future expenses.
