Rodolfo G. Mendoza

Rodolfo G. Mendoza, age 88, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital.

He was born the son of Victoriano P. and Rosa Guerrero Mendoza on February 6, 1936.

From an early age, Rodolfo was surrounded by a loving family that was active in the restaurant industry in the Oakland Community. He assisted the family operation starting at El Zarape by the Santa Fe yards and later, he owned and operated El Rancho. He loved to visit with his customers and his customers knew Rodolfo was going to be straight forward, honest and tell the truth. It was known that from 3-4:00 P.M., he would be taking his siesta. The family had overnight cabins, and Rodolfo would help manage the cabins with this family. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking homemade meals.

In his early years, Rodolfo enjoyed boxing and enjoyed watching boxing matches. He and his friends brewed their own beer and throughout the years, he was an avid gun collector.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Margaret Mendoza; sisters, Juanita Barron, and Evelia (Tony) Rojas. Other survivors include a large, extended, loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arsenio “Lefty” Mendoza and Arthur F. Mendoza; as well as a sister, Teresa O. Ortiz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 9-10:00 A.M., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 10:00 A.M., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
