Pedro Felipe “Pete” Munoz, 69, of Topeka, passed away at his home on May 30, 2023.
Pete was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 20, 1954, the son of Buena Ventura and Josephine (Barranco) Munoz.
He worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for over 41 years as a Field Service Technician.
Pete enjoyed working on his cars and trucks, tinkering in his garage, gardening, and tending to his property. He was very active with his children and grandchildren’s activities and sports and was considered their number one fan. Pete was always there to help whenever needed by his children, grandchildren, friends, and family. He enjoyed spending time with his fellow retirees, breakfast buddies and friends. Pete enjoyed baking and will be remembered for his Mexican bread and cookies. He was looking forward to helping his friend Joe Gutierrez with the Fiesta Golf Tournament. Above all, his pride and joy was his family.
Pete was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served as a former member of the Pastoral Council, Royalty Committee Chairman, and the Knights of Columbus.
Pete married Gloria Sandate at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on June 16, 1979. They have three children, Pamela Munoz, Kristina Munoz and Mark (Stacy) Munoz, and two grandchildren Matias and Mya Bledsoe. He is also survived by his siblings, Teresa (Charles) Wilson, Victoria (Jesus) Gutierrez, Rebecca (Ruben) Cruz, Lino Munoz, Buena Munoz, and Josephine Alfrey, and a sister-in-law Sally Munoz. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, godchildren, and close family friends the Lockers. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Arturo “Art” Munoz, a niece Rachel Gutierrez Petti, and a brother-in-law Vincent Alfrey.
Pete will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 6th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. where his family will receive friends and family and a rosary will be prayed at 6pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
