Patricia “Patsy” M. Corona, age 77, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the Topeka Center for Rehab and Healthcare.
She was born the daughter of Atanacio M. and Josefina (Gonzalez) Corona on June 22, 1945, in Topeka, KS. Patsy attended OLG Grade School and was a 1963 graduate from Hayden High School. She then furthered her education and obtained her BA in Anthropology from Washburn University. Patty was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church as well as serving on the Fiesta Committee, Fiesta Queen Committee and followed in her mother’s footsteps by crafting the Queen’s Crown for Fiesta. She taught CCD classes and was on the Liturgy Committee. She was a longtime director at Topeka LULAC Senior Center. Later, she was the activities coordinator at McCrites Plaza and was a living coach at Valeo. She was very active in her community, church and social activities.
Survivors include her three children, Letitia “Tisha” Gutierrez (Joe), LuCinda Buckner (Brian), and Derrick Gomez; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her siblings, Ruben Corona (Sylvia), Anna Marie Corona, Paul Corona (Eve), and David Corona (Lesta Lawler).
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Amalia “Molly” Corona.
Patsy will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., with a rosary at 5:30 P.M., on Monday, December 5, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday, December 6, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
