Patricia A. Buser, age 89, of Topeka, KS, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Topeka.
She was born the daughter of Anthony J. and Emma M (Enneking) Rethman on August 10, 1934, in Baileyville, KS. She attended and graduated from Baileyville High School. She was always proud that she was able to play and excel in high school basketball. After graduation, Patricia attended Clark’s School of Business. Her working career led her to five years at the Topeka Capitol Journal, 12 years as a computer operator for the Santa Fe Railroad and worked for over 20 years at a law firm that led to retirement.
On June 9, 1956, she married Burton “Bud” Leon Buser in Baileyville, KS. To this union they had two children together and later divorced. Patricia will always be remembered for her incredible cooking skills and always having dinner ready at 5:30 P.M. She was a great seamstress and passed along her sewing knowledge to her sister and granddaughter. Patricia was very organized, took care of her family and was considered the Matriarch. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, collecting different items and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Steve Buser; daughter, Stacy Buser; 4 grandchildren, Kurston Buser, Damon Buser, Devon Buser, Jadon Buser; 4 great-grandchildren, Kamara, Julyan, Remi, Kaybri; as well as one sister, Betty Blankenship-Smarker.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ken, Norm, Jerry, and Jim Rethman; and one sister, Karyl Lee Schiffelbein.
She will lie in state at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 9-10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
