Nathan A. Block

Nathan A. Block, age 35, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, of Everest, KS, and formerly Topeka, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, KS.

He was born the son of Ricky Allen and Patty (McNeil) Block on August 27, 1991, in Topeka, KS.

The world may have viewed Nathan a little differently, but those who truly knew him knew a loyal friend with a gentle spirit and a big heart. Nathan found happiness in the simple things in life and had a way of enjoying them completely. Music was a constant companion, and he rarely went anywhere without his earbuds. He also had a creative side and loved drawing, recently discovering new interests in woodworking and laser printing.

Nathan was always ready to go for a car ride and especially looked forward to fishing trips with his buddy and brother-in-law, Alex. The Fourth of July was his favorite holiday, a day spent surrounded by family and taking in the colorful fireworks. He also enjoyed trips to the casino, though it was often the gift shops that caught his attention most, where he loved searching for unique little trinkets to take home.

When life around him became a little too busy or overwhelming, Nathan found peace in one of his favorite places: the park, simply spending time on the swings. Nathan did not need extravagant things to be happy. He found joy in music, creativity, family, familiar routines, and the little things others might easily overlook. It was that simple and genuine way of experiencing life, along with his loyal heart, that made Nathan so deeply loved by those who knew him best.

Survivors include his loving mom, Patty Block; beloved sister, Heather Block-Blanton and her husband and Nathan’s buddy, Alex Blanton. He was the fun uncle to Abella, Bentley, JaCoby, and Katarina; as well as Ashley & Dakota. Other survivors include his sister, Richelle; as well as a loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Ricky Allen Block (May 30, 2017).

Viewing with visitation will be held from 1-4:00 P.M., on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 P.M., on Tuesday, September 22, at Rochester Cemetery.
