Melvin Greth Jones Jr.

The Family of Melvin Greth Jones Jr. of Topeka is saddened to announce his passing on Monday, October 20th, 2025, at the age of 70 years.

He was born August 25, 1955, in Merriam, Kansas, to Melvin Greth Jones Sr. and Rosa Ransom.

Melvin attended Topeka High School and shortly after, joined the Army National Guard.

Melvin is survived by his mother, Rosa Ransom; Children, Anthony Ivy, Sheleena Jones, Chavis Collins, Destiny Carter & Juliane Martin; 1 Brother and 7 Sisters; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Papaw”.

Melvin was a hard working man who enjoyed many hobbies. He worked as a handy man, always willing to lend a helping hand. In his free time he enjoyed music, playing instruments or just a slow groove to his favorite songs, he also enjoyed watching football, and attending his children/ grandchildren’s activities.

He was predeceased by his father, Melvin Greth Jones Sr.; a son, Chavis Collins; and one Brother Damon Jones.
