Mary L. Steuber

Mary L. Steuber, beloved wife, mother, and daughter, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

She was born the daughter of Robert D. and Joyce M. (Farrell) Sears on April 8, 1962, in Salina, KS. After high school, Mary continued her education and obtained two bachelor’s degrees.

In 1987, Mary married her beloved husband, Terry K. Steuber. Together, they shared 37 years of marriage. Her working career spanned over 35 years as a Registered Nurse and Case Worker and Mary was getting ready to celebrate 25 years of employment with Stormont Vail Hospital. Nursing and caring for others brought her immense joy and pride. She cared deeply for her patients and exemplified compassion and empathy.

Mary enjoyed the simpler things in life. She loved to listen to music and experiencing a Kansas storm roll through the prairie. Spending time with family and soaking up the sun at Lake Perry, boating and enjoying the summer breeze brought her the greatest joy.

Survivors include her husband, Terry; two sons whom she adored and was proud of; as well as her mother, Joyce M. Sears.

She was preceded in death by her father; and her sister, Gwen Ann (Sears) Johnson.

Private family services were held.

The family invites everyone to a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, July 19, 2025, starting at 2:00 P.M., at the Lake Shawnee Shelter House #2, 3137 SE 29th St., Topeka, KS 66605. This will be a time for fellowship and stories, all while enjoying Mary’s favorite adult beverage, ice-cold Coors Lights.
