Mary Geraldine “Jerry” Gauthier, 94, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away December 30, 2018 at McCrite Plaza. Jerry was born on June 9, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky. Daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth Casey Bruner. She graduated from Spaulding University in Louisville, Kentucky in 1951 and later went to Washburn University where she graduated with her Masters Degree in Education in 1979. Jerry was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling the world, where she visited Ireland three times with her family and friends. She loved music and theatre, and was a TPAC volunteer. Her volunteering did not stop there, she volunteered globally with missionary work including the Peace Core, as well as teaching in the Philippines, Jamaica, American Samoa, and Mexico. Jerry was heavily involved with her church and will be deeply missed by many.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents.
Jerry is survived by her daughter Serena (Alvin “Skip”) Harris of Harveyville, Kansas, and her twin daughters Elizabeth “Bess” (Dale) Kinney of Dacula, Georgia, and Viki (Kevin) Smith of Maple Hill, Kansas; brother Jack (Jill) Casey of Louisville, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice and sent in the care of Brennan Mathena Funeral Home
