Mary Hokr, 96, of Arizona, formerly of Topeka, passed away on April 12, 2021 in Arizona.
She was born in St. Peter, Kansas on March 12, 1925 the daughter of Wendeline and Salome (Knoll) Schreiner.
Mary was a 1943 graduate of Capitol Catholic High School. She was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Parish, a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 and was a volunteer for St. Francis Hospital.
She worked as a field supervisor for the Federal Government in GSA Telecommunications and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Mary married Martin E. Hokr at Holy Name Church on September 17, 1949. He predeceased her on August 1, 2006. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Hokr of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Steve and Nancy Hokr of Surprise, Arizona, and her siblings, Josie Ward or Arkansas, Andy Schreiner of Colorado, and Bill Schreiner of Texas.
Mary was cremated. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16th, at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Holy Name Parish. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
