Martha R. (Newlan) McKeever Ohrmann, age 85, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Midland Hospice House.
She was born the daughter of Curtis M. and Tina R. (Fouts) Newlan on October 4, 1938, in Kansas City, MO. Martha graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1956. She went on to attend Washburn University. On July 24, 2000, Martha married James E. Ohrmann in Omaha, NE. Together, they shared 21 years of marriage before James’s passing on January 17, 2022.
Martha’s working career included the Board of Healing Arts for the State of Kansas, Victory Life Insurance, and Mennigers. She was a long-time member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. In her spare time, Martha enjoyed bowling, racquetball, taking walks and spending time with her family. She loved music, especially her favorite artist, Daniel O’Donnell. Hearing her music always brought the biggest smile to Martha.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeffery McKeever (Gloria), James McKeever; daughter, Theresa Reaney; four grandchildren, Brandon McKeever, Angela McKeever-Bays, Shawn McKeever, and Athena McKeever; five great-grandchildren, Madison Sugg, Jaden McKeever, Cheyenne Toeller, Daxton McKeever, and Lochlan McKeever. Other survivors include her stepchildren, Peggy Whitmarsh (Mike), Rusty Ohrmann (Karen), Donna Worthley, Sheryl Speier (Steve); as well as numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Ohrmann; sisters, Mary Weaver, Gin Faulkner, and Claire Haukenberry.
She will lie in state from 6-8:00 P.M., with a rosary at 6:30 P.M., on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, September 21, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
