Madeline H. Gallaway

Madeline H. Gallaway, age 93, of Maple Hill, KS, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at St. Marys Manor in St. Marys, KS.

She was born the daughter of John and Francisca (Vasquez) Reynozo on June 7, 1929, in Dwight, KS. She graduated from Dwight High School.

Madeline met and married Harry Leroy Gallaway on September 3, 1948, in Waterloo, IA. Together they shared almost 65 years of marriage. Harry passed away on July 21, 2013.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church as well as Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys, KS. Madeline enjoyed hunting, fishing, flower gardening and especially, ceramics. She was a longtime homemaker but had worked at Seymour Foods and retired from Copper Craft.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Hill of Clayton, NC; son, George Gallaway and his wife Debra; four grandchildren, Shandy Hill and his wife Gina of Clayton, NC, Jason Hill and his wife Lisa of Clayton, NC, Katina Barney and (Greg Beck) of Round Rock, TX, Michael Gallaway of Newville, PA; two step-grandchildren, Johnny and Brent Hill; six great-grandchildren, Joel, Jolene, and Kyle Hill, Weston Hill, Blake and Ashley Beck; one step-great-granddaughter, Alyssa Hill; three brothers, Russell, Melvin and Maynard Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, John Lee Gallaway; sister, Maria Villegas; and three brothers, Marce, John and Joe Reynozo.

Madeline will lie in state after 2:00 P.M., on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Family will be present from 6-8:00 P.M., and a rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Madeline's memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
