Luis Humberto Solis-Barragan

Luis Humberto Solis-Barragan, 61, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Stormont Vail Health.

He was born April 21, 1965, in Monte Escobedo Zac. Mexico. to parents Jovita Solis-Barragan & Luis Solis Sr. He was the 5th of their 10 children.

Growing up Luis was a tough kid, justice driven, righteous & always standing up for what was right.

Luis was a hardworking man with a powerful voice whom his family deeply respected and looked to for guidance, laughter, and support. He was an expert in the trade of construction and found a lot of joy remodeling homes and flipping houses. He took great pride in his work stating that “if you’re gonna do something, you better do it right or not at all.”

He had a heart of gold with a stubborn personality because he knew exactly what he wanted and who he was. He was so proud to see his four children and five grandchildren as an extension of himself. Never once did he give up on creating the life he envisioned for himself and his family - he built it from the ground up both figuratively and spiritually.

Luis was a leader and a paternal figure to his nieces and nephews who loved him very much. He loved & had very close bonds with his cousins, aunts, uncles & extended family. He was a man who would enjoy talking with you for hours at a time, offering advice, guidance and loving words to show you were not alone in this world. Sometimes using sweet words but other times with a rough loving nature, to prove a strong point. The intentions were always pure & good.

Luis is survived by his 9 siblings who adore and admire him. Being the wild card of them, they never knew what to expect, but there was never a dull moment.

Luis will forever be remembered by his family. He can finally rest in peace with his mother, whom has been gone for 16 years. They can watch over the entire family, their existence will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, Sunday, September 6, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 8, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Luis Humberto Solis nacio el 21 de abril del 1965 en Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas, Mexico. Hijo de Luis Solis y Jovita Solis de Barragan. Luis fue el quinto de 10 hijos.

Al crecer Luis fue un niño fuerte, guiado por la injusticia, con intergridad y siempre defendiendo lo que era corecto.

Luis era un hombre trabajador, con la voz poderosa, a quien su familia respetaba mucho y a quien acudian en busca de consejos, risas y apoyo. Su oficio principal era la construccion y encontraba mucha alegria areglando casas. Se sentia orgulloso de su trabajo y afirmaba que “si vas a hacer algo, hazlo bien o mejor no hagas nada”.

Tenia un corazón de oro con una personalidad terca porque el sabia exactamente lo que queria y quien era.

Se sentia muy orgulloso de ver a sus cuatro hijos y cinco ñietos como extensión de si mismo. Ni una sola vez se rindio en crear la vida que imaginó para el y su familia; la construyó desde cero tanto en sentido figurado como espiritual.

Luis fue un lider y una figura paterna para sus sobrinos y sobrinas quien lo querian mucho. Fue muy cercano a sus tios, tias, primos y la familia extendida y los queria mucho. El disfrutaba hablar contigo por horas ofreciendo consejos. Te decía palabras de cariño para demostrarte que no estabas solo en este mundo. Otras veces te mostraba un carácter firme pero afectuoso para dejar claro un punto importante. Las intenciones siempre fueron puras y buenas.

A Luis le sobreviven sus 4 hijos, 5 ñietos, su papa y sus 9 hermanos que lo adoran y admiran. Siendo el alma impredecible que era, nunca sabian que esperar, por eso nunca hubo un momento aburrido. Luis siempre será recordado por su familia. Luis ahora podra descansar en paz junto a su madre quien fallecio hace 16 años y podran cuidar de toda la familia juntos. Su existencia nunca será olvidada.

La familia recibirá a los amigos de 13:00 a 17:00 horas el domingo 6 de septiembre en la funeraria Brennan-Mathena. Se celebrará una misa de funeral cristiano a las 11:00 a.m. del martes 8 de septiembre en la iglesia católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
