Lucia "Lucy" Martin

Lucia “Lucy” Martin, 87, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away February 23, 2020 at her home. Lucy was born on December 15, 1932 in Topeka. Daughter of Rito and Leonila Mata Valdivia.

Lucy married Calixto Martin Jr. on June 16, 1956 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2010.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Augustinian Recollects. Lucy was known for her amazing cooking of Mexican food and baking. Her Mexican bread and cookies were loved by all. She was extremely active in the church and helped volunteer for all the Fiesta’s. Lucy was a homemaker most of her life and loved to babysit for multiple families and friends. She treated all of her kids like her own family, and loved them deeply.

Lucy is preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her daughters, Rita Martin and Rose (Rene Arce) Burbank; sons, Stephen Martin and James (Jill) Martin; sisters, Susan (John) Perez, Monica (David) Matchett, Mary Ann (Carlos) Tejada; Sister In Laws, Karen Valdivia, Augustine Hernandez, and Agapita Cebellos; brothers, Rito (Bertha) Valdivia Jr., Angel (Mary) Valdivia, and Raymundo Valdivia; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Saturday, February 29, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
