Lola Irene Stattelman, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her home.
She was born August 3, 1937, in Wetmore, Kansas, the youngest of six children to Edward Wittenbach and Ina (Hawley) Wittenbach. Lola attended schools in Wetmore and graduated from Wetmore High School in 1955.
Lola worked at First National Bank and then for Southwestern Bell in Topeka, as an administrative assistant. She retired in 1991.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was involved in the Altar Society.
Lola was very talented at sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge and pitch, as well as attending and watching KU Basketball games. Lola was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Attending her family’s activities and sporting events gave her much joy.
On November 9, 1957, Lola married Richard Edward Stattelman, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. They celebrated 67 years together. Richard survives of the home.
Other survivors include her children, Pamela Diel and husband Dave of Ozawkie, William Stattelman and wife Karen of Topeka, and Deborah Cox and husband Michael of Auburn; sister, Dona McCulley of Holton; grandchildren, Alex Stattelman, Sean Stattelman, Kaitlyn Haas, Connor Cox, Caleb Cox, Trevor Cox, Derek Diel, Danae Brandenburgh; great grandchildren, Charlotte Stattelman, Marybelle Haas, Dakota Diel, Dalton Diel, Tyson Dultmeier, Alexis Dultmeier, and Bailey Dultmeier.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Stattelman Jr; siblings, Opal Bryant, Melvin Wittenbach, Ione Fletcher, and Edwin Wittenbach; as well as a granddaughter, Meghan Elizabeth Cox.
A visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 4, from 5:00-7:00pm, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, with a rosary prayed at 5:00pm.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 5, at 10:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
