Leroy Orvel Bahr, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home.
He was born February 25, 1935, in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, to Cletus R. Bahr and Rose F. (Linderer) Bahr. Leroy graduated from Sainte Genevieve High School in 1952.
Leroy worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. He served in the United States Navy for over 15 years, and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and attended Assumption Catholic Church.
He was an outdoorsman and was very active his whole life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, doing yoga, and swimming.
Leroy married Leonor “Bebe” Duran on April 18, 1963, in Topeka, Kansas. They celebrated 58 years together, before her passing in 2021.
Survivors include his daughter, Raquel Bahr (Jason Heim); grandchildren, Zaylee Sherwood, Ciaran Heim, Mena Heim; siblings, Elaine McCure, Norma Weinrich, Marilyn Retherford, Cleta Halvachick, and Sharon Grizzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Leroy Bahr Jr.; and daughter, Kathlene Sue Bahr.
The family will receive friends from 9:00am to 10:00am, with a rosary prayed at 10:00am, and funeral service at 10:30am, on Friday, January 2, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
