Lenore C. Marschall (Weight), 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Born in Hastings, North Dakota, on September 17, 1939, Lenore’s early years were spent on a farm. During World War II, her family moved to California to support the shipyards, returning to North Dakota and farming afterward. The family eventually returned to California where Lenore completed high school and would later connect with the love of her life.

Lenore was re-introduced to George Marschall while he was in Marine boot camp at Camp Pendleton. Their families had long been connected, as George and his brothers had spent their youth with Lenore’s older brothers on farms in Minnesota and North Dakota. This deep-rooted connection grew into a life-long partnership; they married in December 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran in Chino, CA, where their two children – Pamella and Andrew -- were later baptized.

After attending Mt. San Antonio Junior College, Lenore served as a bank teller, the head of food service for the Chino Unified School District, and office manager for the Liberty Groves Co-op. When multiple sclerosis later made it impossible for her to work, she refused to let the diagnosis dim her spirit. When George transferred to the Air National Guard base in Fargo, ND, Lenore became involved in the local MS Society, using her own experiences to help others navigate the challenges of the disease.

Following George’s military retirement, the couple lived in Arkansas and Missouri, before eventually settling at Brewster Place in Topeka, Kansas. They fully embraced community life at Brewster and found a wonderful fellowship of friends at Countryside United Methodist Church. At Brewster, Lenore learned oil painting in place of her previous China painting, while George continued his passion for woodworking. They were often found enjoying activities with friends, including games of cards, cribbage, dominoes, and Mahjong.

Lenore was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Marschall; her parents, Leonard E. and Edith M. Weight nee Anderson; and her brothers -- LaVane, Lowell, and Leland.

She is survived by her children, Pamella (Richard Jordan) Marschall and Andrew Marschall; her grandson, Matthew Marschall; her brother, Lytell (Sharon) Weight; and her sister, Laurel (Andrew) Quady, and many nieces and nephews.

Lenore will be interred with George at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Brewster Foundation Employee Assistance and Support Fund (brewsterliving.org/foundation).
