Lawrence "Larry" B. Kraus

Lawrence “Larry” B. Kraus, 92, of Topeka, KS, died Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Legend at Capital Ridge Assisted Living.

He was born August 6, 1926 the son of Charles Theodore and Mary Elizabeth (Burenheide) Kraus.

Larry attended the University of Nebraska earning a Bachelor’s degree.  He was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan through and through and loved rooting on the Huskers football team. 

Larry was a Charter Member of St. Matthew Catholic Church volunteering in several capacities during its construction.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13012, the St. Matthew Catholic School Board, the Hayden School Board, coached his girls’ softball teams and was the Boy Scout Leader of Troop #13 for many years.

Larry’s hobby was wood working but his career was in banking.  He retired from Commerce Bank, which now is CoreFirst Bank and Trust.

Larry married Roberta Michaelis on September 23, 1950 at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.  She survives.  Other survivors include his children, Donna (Bob) Perry, Carol (Dan) Gardner, Lee (Betsy) Kraus, Paul (Jill) Kraus, Mary Beth (Miguel) Remedios and Dan (Susan) Kraus.  Thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two nephews, and one niece also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carolyn Heming, a brother, Nick Kraus, a niece and a nephew.

There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary prayed at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Following the rosary, the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.  Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
