Katherine "Kathy" Ann Kotsch, age 71, of Topeka, KS, died peacefully, on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Prairie Wind Senior Living in Berryton, KS.
Kathy was born on November 20, 1950, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Harry J. and Margaret (Hyland) Kotsch, and the eldest of five children.
Kathy attended Hayden High School and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1968. She then attended Washburn University and graduated from Kansas State Teaching College (Emporia State University) in 1972. She worked in various positions in the private industry and for the State of Kansas, retiring in 2000.
Kathy’s best life accomplishment was volunteering for 35 years at Birthright of Topeka, a prolife emergency pregnancy service.
Survivors include one sister, Mary B. Hess and her husband Henry of Cascade, CO; three brothers, Frank Kotsch and his wife Carol of Wichita, James Kotsch of Topeka, and Joe Kotsch of Valley Falls; as well as seven nephews, five nieces, five great-nieces and three great nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and a beloved uncle who always lived with them.
Kathy will lie in state from 5-7:00 P.M., with a rosary for the repose of Kathy’s soul will be said at 6:30 P.M., on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Birthright of Topeka, 512 SW 7th St., Topeka, KS 66603 and/or for the Masses. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
