Judy Kay Rainey

Judy Kay Rainey, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Midland Hospice House.

She was born October 20, 1945, in Topeka, to Peter George Andes and Amelia Katherine (Turk) Andes. Judy attended Holy Name Catholic Grade School and graduated from Hayden High School in 1964.

Judy was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 30 years, as well as a nanny for the Rottinghaus and Colbern families.

She married Robert Lee Rainey in 1978 in Topeka, Kansas. They celebrated 16 years together before his passing in 1995.

Judy was a devoted caregiver and doted over the special children in her life. She loved attending family activities and going on adventures with her retired friends. Judy was ornery and loved to laugh.

She is survived by her sisters, Cecilia Craig of Topeka, Carol Fruits and husband Jim of Topeka; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nieces and nephews; as well as countless close friends that were the world to her.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Ann Richardson, Peggy Derr, JoAnn Dreher; brother, Charles Andes; and mother-in-law, Virginia Rainey.

The family will receive friends from 9:30am to 10:30am, with a Rosary prayed at 10:30am, and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am, Saturday, September 5, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
