Jessie Dean Hughes Sr., 46, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly at his home.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 27, 1977, the son of Kathy Hughes.

When Jessie was younger, he was adventurous and very outgoing. He participated on the drill team with his sister and loved to play sports and share time with family. His favorite hobbies were fishing, playing video games, and connecting with people. His main focus was always taking care of his family. After his release from prison, he moved to Kansas City Ks where He worked for Moving Pros. In Olathe, KS. He also received his DOT Training Certificate with the company and learned how to drive large box-size trucks. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, detailing his car, burning incense to keep his spirits alive, and listening to R&B, Rap, HipHop, and even Country music.

He also enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Enjoying life was his main priority when he was released. After the devastating loss of his son Naviontay, he experienced many hardships.  However, he still overcame every obstacle that came his way. He even achieved his dream of getting a car that he loved. Lexus ES 350 His family was very proud of him and all that he did! He will be truly missed by his loved ones!

He is survived by his mother, Kathy Hughes, twin daughters, Javiney and Javiona Hughes, and son, Jessie Hughes Jr., a brother Roger Hughes, and a sister JoAnn Hughes.  He was preceded in death by a son, Naviontay Hughes, and a brother Shawn Hughes.

Jessie will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas, on Thursday, June 15th, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. where his family will receive friends.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16th, at noon at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
