Jerrell Washburn, 45, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

He was born July 11, 1979, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Gerald Washburn and Linda Winters Washburn. Jerrell graduated from Raytown High School in 1997.

Jerrell was a ramp agent for Southwest Airlines for over 25 years. Jerrell had an adventurous spirit that included traveling and exploring new places, and working for the airline allowed him to do just that.

He was a passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan and season ticket holder. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Moto GP motorcycle racing, as well as the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. Jerrell had many hobbies which included hiking, snow skiing, going to the casino, and watching TV and movies. He had a love for airplanes, reggae music, fireworks, and his Tesla Model S Plaid.

Survivors include his brother, Brett Washburn of Kansas City, Missouri; aunt and uncle; Mary and Charlie Winters of Topeka, Kansas; cousins, Matt Winters of Emporia, Kansas, Adam Winters and wife Dawn of Topeka, Kansas, Regina Brown of Junction City, Kansas; second cousins, Ethan Winters of Topeka, Kansas, Kinsley Winters of Topeka, Kansas, Ashley Brumm of Junction City, Kansas; as well as other cousins and extended family.

Jerrell was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Jerrell’s life will be at 2pm, Friday, July 25, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, Kansas 66603.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Helping Hands Humane Society or MO/Kan Boxer Rescue, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
