Jason M. Smith, age 55, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Midland Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 15, 1971, in Emporia, Kansas, to Robert Verl “R.V.” and Elaine Gayle (Siebuhr) Smith. Jason attended school in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School with the Class of 1990. While in high school, he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic working alongside his father at the family business, R.V. 66 Service Station. After graduation, he attended Flint Hills Technical College. Throughout his career, Jason was known for his dedication, dependability, and hands-on skills, most recently working in facilities department with the Seaman School District.

On May 10, 2008, Jason married the love of his life, Tammy M. Tichenor. Together they shared 18 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather who treasured every moment with his family.

Jason enjoyed reading and was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs, and many other sports. His faith and his family were the foundation of his life, and he faithfully attended Topeka Baptist Church.

Jason faced his cancer journey with courage and grace. He is now at peace, free from pain, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his cherished wife, Tammy Smith; daughter, Elizabeth “Ellie” Coleman (Thomas); son, Austin Zobel; daughter, Bailey Zobel; grandson, Kranston Haehn; as well as his mom, Elaine Smith. Other survivors include his three brothers, Timothy Smith (Kenda), David Smith (Diann), Randal Smith (Joan); and a loving extended family that includes numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, R.V. Smith.

Visitation with viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M., on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at the Topeka Baptist Church, 3301 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66614. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M., at the church with burial taking place at Prairie Home Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Jason's memory to HNC Living Foundation, 8100 Newton St., Ste: 100, Overland Park, KS 66204 and/or Topeka Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
