Jared Edward Wilcox

Jared Edward Wilcox, age 36, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026 in Topeka, Kansas. Born August 1, 1989 in Kansas City, Missouri, Jared was the son of Dennis Wilcox and Francie Wilcox of Silver Lake, Kansas.

A resident of Silver Lake, Kansas, he graduated from Silver Lake High School in 2008. He continued his education at Washburn Institute of Technology, and then worked at Caterpillar, Inc. and McElroy Electric. At his death, Jared was employed by the Resource Center for Independent Living.

Throughout his life, Jared grew in Christian faith, a journey begun as a boy active in Community Church of Topeka where he participated in SonLight, King’s Kids and Awana.

Preceded in death by his father Dennis Wilcox in 2017, Jared is survived by his son William E. Wilcox of Topeka, his mother Francie (Halloran) Wilcox of Silver Lake, his sister Renee van Norel and brother-in-law Wiljan van Norel and their son Nico of the Netherlands, his best friends Brittany Barnard of Silver Lake and Joey Boaldin of Columbia, Missouri, and many other family and friends.

Funeral services at First Baptist Church of Silver Lake, 3249 NW Hoch, Silver Lake, are pending and will be announced soon.
