James “Jim” M. Minihan, Jr., age 82, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

He was born the son of James M. Minihan, Sr., and Florence C. (Hefner) Minihan on June 24, 1944, in Topeka. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a 1962 graduate of Hayden High School.

Following graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Navy Station in Pearl Harbor. After his honorable discharge, Jim returned to Topeka and started his career with the railroad, a passion for hard work, that spanned over 40 years. He retired as a Locomotive Engineer.

On September 3, 1966, Jim married his beloved sweetheart, Mary Ann Mauer at St. Joseph Catholic Church. On November 27, 2022, Mary Ann passed away after 56 years of marriage. During their marriage, the two enjoyed trips to the casino, especially to Laughlin, NV, and going to restaurants for a good steak. Jim loved going to car shows, working in his yard, and cheering on the KU Jayhawks basketball team, KSU football team, and the KC Chiefs. His love of cars was evident as his pride and joy was his 1932 bright red Ford also nicknamed, “The Lady.” Jim took great pride, owning and showing her off.

Left to mourn is his loving extended family that will cherish the times, stories and memories created with Jim.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann; and his twin brother, Walter “Wally” Minihan.
