Jackie Marie Akkerman

Jackie M. Akkerman, 38, of Tecumseh, Kansas, passed away on September 23, 2026.

She was born on November 6, 1987, in Riverside, California, to Jeffrey Akkerman and Joelle Stocking.

Above all else, Jackie was a devoted mother to her two children, Zachary and Madison. They were the center of her world, and being their mom was the role she treasured most. The love and pride she had for her children could be seen in everything she did. She devoted herself to those she loved, offering a steady source of comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love.

Jackie's nurturing nature extended far beyond her own family. As a licensed childcare provider, she operated a daycare from her home, where she created a welcoming place filled with love, laughter, and care. She had a special gift for connecting with children and took great pride in helping care for and guide them. The families she served became an important part of her life, and many of the children she cared for held a special place in her heart.

Those who knew Jackie will remember her vibrant personality and joyful spirit. She was fun-loving, caring, and often the life of the party. She loved spending time with family and friends, sharing laughs, and creating lasting memories with the people she loved most. Her colorful personality perfectly matched her beloved purple hair, and she embraced life with a spirit that was uniquely her own. Jackie was also creative and self-taught, taking pride in doing her own nails and eyelashes, a reflection of both her talent and the care she put into expressing her unique style.

Jackie found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved warm weather, shopping, camping, jet skiing, pets, especially Crookshanks, coffee, and all things pumpkin spice. Halloween was her favorite holiday, and she especially loved Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, characters she adored and collected throughout the years. She was especially proud to be the owner of a Ford Mustang, a dream she had held for many years and was thrilled to make a reality. Those closest to her will also fondly remember that Jackie was always running late because she wanted to look her very best, a small but endearing trait that was simply part of who she was.

More than any hobby, possession, or pastime, Jackie will be remembered for the love she shared so freely. She loved her children wholeheartedly, treasured her family, and cared deeply for everyone fortunate enough to be part of her life. Her laughter, kindness, and unforgettable spirit created countless memories that will continue to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Jackie is survived by her beloved children, Zachary Madden and Madison Madden; her father, Jeffrey Akkerman; her mother, Joelle Stocking; her siblings, Jenn Clements, Angela Cooper, Jes Akkerman, and Alia Akkerman; her paternal grandparents, Red and Don Akkerman; her maternal grandparents, Jim and Jean Stocking; her uncles, Dani, Dave and Gregg Akkerman, Jimmy Stocking, her aunt, Jody Akkerman; and her nieces and nephews, Natalee, Haylee, Axel, Rylee, Ryker, Jonathan, Braxton, and Samson. She is also survived by many loving extended family members, dear friends, and the many children and families whose lives she touched throughout her years as a childcare provider.

Jackie's life was defined by love: love for her children, her family, her friends, and the many people whose lives she touched along the way. While her family will miss her more than words can express, they will carry forward her laughter, her colorful spirit, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her greatest legacy will always be the love she gave to Zachary and Madison and the special place she will forever hold in their hearts.

Jackie will lie in state, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, October 3, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
