Guadalupe "Lupe" Perez

Guadalupe “Lupe” Perez, age 94, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Midland Hospice House.

She was born the daughter of Manuel and Soledad (Chavez) Vargas on April 23, 1931, in Topeka. Lupe married Isaac Perez, Sr., in February 1954 and sadly, Isaac passed away on June 13, 1962.

Lupe will be remembered as the matriarch of her family. She provided delicious meals for family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and had a kind, sweet personality. Sitting on the porch and people watching brought her the greatest pleasure. Family and friends will miss her deeply but her 94 years of life is a treasure to all.

Survivors include her three sons, Isaac Perez, Jr. (Julie Smith), Rudy Perez (Tawana), and Chris Perez (Heidi); as well as seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Lupe also leaves behind her brother, Cayetano “Cano” Vargas.

Lupe is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Edward “Eddie” Perez; daughter, Anna Sargent; brothers, Manuel Vargas, Jr., Merced “Checo” Vargas and Felix “Sly” Vargas.

Lupe will lie in state from 5-8:00 P.M., on Thursday, June 19, 2025, with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 P.M., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., on Friday, June 20, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Lupe's memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
