Greta Marie Bone, age 92, of Topeka, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Brookdale Topeka.
She was born the daughter of Roy and Lorene (Schmidt) Murphy on November 18, 1933, in Emporia, Kansas. On September 7, 1953, Greta married her beloved husband, Jack Ryan Bone, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe, Kansas. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith and family, sharing 66 devoted years of marriage before Jack’s passing on December 13, 2019.
Greta dedicated many years of her life to her work, serving as a typist for Farm Bureau Mutual, a receptionist for Investor’s Diversified Services, a Key Punch Operator for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and later as an Accounts Receivable Clerk in the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine field for 25 years. While she took pride in her work, the center of Greta’s life was always her family and her faith.
Her greatest joy came from caring for those she loved and being present for life’s simple but meaningful moments. Greta treasured watching her grandchildren dance and compete in their sporting events, always cheering them on with pride. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, traveling, and country dancing alongside her beloved Jack.
Greta’s Catholic faith was the foundation that guided her life. She was a devoted member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, where she faithfully served with the Altar Guild, as a Eucharistic Minister, helped prepare funeral dinners, and volunteered in many ways throughout the parish. Her life was a reflection of deep faith, quiet service, and unwavering love for her family.
Children include two sons, Randy Bone (deceased), Rick Bone of Tecumseh; three daughters, Renee Crooker and her husband Rich of Branson, MO, Relynn Reynoso of Topeka, Robin Orton and her husband Rex of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren, Erika Erickson, Joshua Crooker, Courtney Bone, Judson Bone, Kinsley Reynoso, Makenna Orton, Max Orton and Makade Orton; great-grandchildren, Grayden, Rylan, and Annistyn Crooker, Reagan and Warren Bone-Murley, James and Stanton Ryan Bone; as well as two brothers, Dennis Murphy and Gary Murphy; and a sister, Joyce Finley.
