Gregory Glasscock

July 9, 1940 — September 3, 2020

Gregory L. Glasscock, 80, of Miami, Florida, passed away on September 3, 2020 at Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on July 9, 1940 the son of Bertrand E. and Evelyn R. (Leighton) Glasscock.

Greg will be remembered as a “jokester”.  He would joke with everyone and he was known at Goodyear as the guy who would bring all the goodies, especially Doris’ chili that was so hot it would make his coworkers eyes water.  He was the type of man who always did anything for other people and was someone who you could always count on.

Gregory was married to Charlene Malen in December 1964 and divorced in 1969.  He is survived by his daughter, Tammey Lynn Sweezer and fiancée Brian Sweezer of Jefferson City, Missouri, his two grandsons, Joshua and Kyle Stephan, seven great grandchildren; Joseph Vaughan, Jayda Stephan, Raymond Stephan, Zachary Stephan, Gage Stephan and twins Eva and Gabriella Stephan, and a great-great grandchild Nevaeh Vaughan.  Gregory later married Janet who brought three step daughters to the relationship.  They divorced and he married Doris (Langdale) Wheeler in Topeka, Kansas on September 8, 1981 who predeceased him on October 25, 1999.  Doris had three children, Lawrence S. Wheeler III of Waterloo, IA, Donna Wheeler and Ellen Wheeler Charon both of Topeka, and grandchildren, Nick Jones, Toby Jones of Topeka, Michael Rogers and Marcus Rogers of Kansas City, Mo., and three great grandchildren.  After her passing he moved to Miami, Florida where he married Antonette Hamilton who survives him. Her children are Adamariz Hamilton and Reynaldo Abreu whom he helped raise.  He is also survived by a sister, Sandra Sue Curtis, step brother, Ron Davey and step sister Billie Beck.   He was predeceased by his parents, Bertrand and Evelyn Glasscock, stepmom Alma Glasscock, brother Geffory Glasscock and a grandson Zackery Stephan.

Mr. Glasscock will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday, September 14th from 11:00 to 12:00 a.m. where his family will receive friends.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Doris.
