Gerald Joseph Rohr, Sr.

Gerald Joseph Rohr, Sr. died on January 17, 2026, in Russellville, AR.

He was born in Bazine, KS on December 12, 1940, to his parents Fidelis Antone Rohr (deceased) and Mary Edna Legleighter Rohr (deceased). He is preceded in death by his siblings, Delores Rohr, Vernon Rohr, Delbert Rohr, and Estella Rohr.

Gerald was an educator by trade. He began his teaching career in 1962 in Windhurst, KS. In 1963 he started teaching at Hayden High School in Topeka, KS. He primarily taught Sciences and eventually became the school counselor. He continued teaching at Hayden High School for the rest of his career which spanned 49 years until he retired in 2011. During this time he married Kathleen Ann Debacker on August 26, 1967. They have been married 58 years.

Gerald and Kathleen have four children: His son, Gerald J Rohr, Jr (deceased) and Pattie Ard of Topeka, KS. His daughters, Kristy Rohr of Livingston, TX, Kimberly and Jeff Miller of Ottawa, KS, and Kara Rohr of Russellville, AR.

From these children Gerald and Kathleen have been blessed, with a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The grandchildren: Elaine and Anthony, Haley and Matthew, Kaylee and Johnny, James, Nathan, Joseph and Lauren, Emily, Madeliene, Sophia, Olivia, Julia, and Joan. Their great-grandchildren include Christopher, Jake, Elanor, and Roland.

Throughout his life he kept a deep and committed devotion to his Roman Catholic Faith. He was a living example of the values and its beliefs in everything he did. He will now continue this work in his Heavenly home with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

A rosary will be said on Sunday, January 20, 2026, at Brennan-Mathena funeral home in Topeka, KS. The rosary will start at 6:00pm, with a public viewing to follow.

A Tridentian Roman Catholic Mass of Burial will be held at 10:00 AM at St. John Vienny Catholic Church in Maple Hill, KS. The committal of his body to the grave will immediately proceed at Maple Hill Cemetery in Maple Hill, KS.
