Genevieve "Genny" Dolores Smith

Genevieve “Genny” D. Smith, 85, Las Vegas, NV formerly of Topeka, KS died May 30, 2021 in Las Vegas.

She was born December 11, 1935 in Chanute, KS the daughter of Paul and Florence (Bolin) Mayfield.

Genny was an Administrative Assistant for the Head Start Program USD #501 retiring to Sun City West, AZ.  She was married to David G. Smith in August of 1956 in Chanute.  He preceded her in death on July 30, 2004. Following the loss of her husband she moved to Henderson, NV to live with her son.  She was an avid supporter of the Kansas Jayhawks and enjoyed playing Bridge.

Genny was the loving mother of three sons, Kem (Rita) Smith, Topeka; David (Peter Ho) Smith, Palm Springs, CA and Dr. Matthew (Tammy) Smith, Henderson, NV.  Also surviving are four grandsons, Kye (Jenny Beaver) Smith, Korey (Lori Williams) Smith, Josh Smith, and Adam Smith.  Five great-grandchildren, Kayden Smith, Kamryn Smith, Karson Smith, and identical twins, Harper and Harlow Smith also survive. 

Kem and David would like to give a special “Thank You” to their brother, Dr. Matthew Smith and his wife, Tammy, for inviting Genny into their home and sharing their love and care for her over the past 10 years.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Her family asks that you dress casually and come in your favorite KU Jayhawk apparel. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 University Center Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
