Gene Allen Baker

August 15, 1940 — February 4, 2021

Gene Allen Baker, age 80, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Homestead of Auburn. Gene was born in Topeka, KS on August 15, 1940 to Horace Joe Baker and Jessie (Loy) Baker.

He graduated from Topeka High School in 1958. He joined the United States Navy in November of 1958 and he served 22 years before retiring in October 1980. He worked for Caterpillar/Darr Dealership in Oklahoma City as a warehouse manager and retired after 21 years.

Gene and his wife Thalia Jenean “TJ”, lived in Bethany, Oklahoma, where they started Direct Delivery, a Hot Shot service in May of 2002. He loved to go fishing and was a member of the TTTHC Treasure Hunt Club.

Gene is survived by one sister, Dixie Bailey and one brother, Dennis Baker; one daughter, Jeanann Richardson and her husband Bob; one son, Michael Loy Baker and his wife Leslie; three grandsons, Joshua, Jesse and Justin; and two granddaughters, Rachel and Michelle; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, TJ; three brothers, Gerald, Horace Joe Jr. “Bud”, and Nelson Baker; and two sisters, Bernice Frost and Shirley “Jimmie” Frye.

Visitation with viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 5-7:00 P.M. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Cremation will follow after the visitation. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, TJ in the Beggs Cemetery in Oklahoma.
