Gabriel Ramirez, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born October 9, 1947, in Topeka, the son of Espiririon “Joe” Ramirez and Amelia “Molly” Tinoco. Gabriel graduated from Topeka High School in 1966.
After high school, Gabriel was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. and served two tours in Vietnam.
Gabriel married Cecilia Ann Gomez on January 16, 1971, in Topeka, Kansas. They celebrated 54 years together. She survives of the home.
He enjoyed watching KU Basketball and playing softball, basketball, volleyball, and kickboxing. He was a Michael Jordan fan and loved music.
Gabriel worked at Knoll Welding Supply and went on to drive a truck for the Teamsters Union and retired from Graham Trucking.
Other survivors include his daughters, Celena Ramirez (Darrian Emerson) of Topeka, Desiree Rose (James) of Topeka; siblings, Lalo Ramirez, Grace Doty (Rodney), Patti Stroth (Doug); brother-in-law, Gary Cook; grandchildren, Joseph Minjares, Patrick Minjares, Rafael Minjares, Aaron Lira Jr., Aric Lira, Anthony Ramirez-Villegas, Adrian Ramirez-Villegas, Annabella Munoz (AJ); great grandchildren, Oliver Minjares, Rosemary Minjares, Harlow Minjares, A’Siair Lira; and his beloved dog, Louie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Manuel Ramirez, Evelyn Ramos, Melinda Feltner, and Rosie Cook.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, with a rosary prayed at 7:30 pm, on Tuesday, December 16, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 17, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Inurnment with Military Honors will be 2:00pm, Thursday, December 18, at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Topeka.
