Frederic Heisner Bahr

Frederic H. Bahr, 87, of Berryton, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.

He was born November 14, 1938, in Houston, Texas, to Carl Adam and Louise Elizabeth Heisner Bahr. Frederic graduated from Lutheran High Academy of Houston, Texas, and went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, and an MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston. He was ordained July of 1965 & served briefly at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church at Wamego KS.

Changing careers, Frederic worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. He began as clerk and worked his way up to an electronics technician.

He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Topeka and was involved in many community activities. He played roles in civic drama at Topeka Civic Theatre, and Lawrence Civic Theatre. Some of his notable roles were Lawyer T. Drummond in Lawrence Civic Theatre’s Inherit the Wind, Pirate Secco in TCT’s Peter Pan & McClaren in Brigadoon. He sang bass with Topeka Symphony Chorus, Lawrence Choral Society and area church choirs. In the summer of 1997, he taught English and Music in SAMS mission of San Francisco de Marcoris, Dominican Republic. He was also interested in languages, reading Classical Greek with the St. Jerome Society of Topeka.

Other things that Frederic enjoyed were maintaining the family farm, playing piano and traveling to most of the USA plus New Zealand and Greece.

Frederic married Marilynn Jean Morgan on December 30, 1961, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She survives at the home.

Other survivors include his daughters, Lisa Albrecht and husband Brian of Berryton, Melissa Bahr of Garden City, ID; grandchildren, Justin Albrecht and wife Jordan, Rachel Albrecht, Sara Eaton and husband Zach, Jennifer Hart and husband Noah; great grandchildren, Stetson Albrecht, Calvin Eaton, Miles Eaton, Claire Eaton, and Jonah Hart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Evelyn Garske, Dorothy Homeyer, and Elizabeth Kozina.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 14, from 10:00am to 11:00am, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, with a funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

Memorial contributions should be made to the St. John’s Classical Lutheran School, St. John's Music Academy, or the Topeka Civic Theatre, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66603.
