Florencia Huerta Sauseda

Florencia Huerta Sauseda, age 76, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Florencia was born on September 6, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Armando Huerta and Cipriana (Nevarez) Huerta.

On October 25, 1969, she married Alfred G. Sauseda in Chicago. Alfred passed away on October 14, 2024.

Florencia devoted many years to working as a paraprofessional for Topeka Public Schools, USD 501, where she nurtured and supported countless students with compassion and care. A woman of deep faith, she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She found joy in life’s simple moments—curling up with a good book, dancing to her favorite music, and watching classic musicals, especially Gone with the Wind. Above all, Florencia loved her family. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loving sister, and a strong, steady presence to all who knew her. Her warm heart, gentle nature, and joyful spirit will be remembered always.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Searles; her sons, Jonathan Sauseda and Esteban Sauseda; her treasured granddaughter, Jaelyn Sauseda; and her sister, Lidia Brooks (Ronald). She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family who will continue to carry her memory forward.

Florencia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ernesto Lopez, and her husband, Alfred G. Sauseda.

Florencia will lie in state from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Florencia's memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
