Everett Ronald Daves, 86, of Topeka, KS died January 11, 2022.

He was born June 4, 1935, in Topeka, KS the son of Bruce and Dorothy (Robinson) Daves.

Everett retired as a Major from the US Army Reserve after 20 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post #1 in Topeka and Grace Community Church of Overbrook. 

Everett was a Journalist with the Topeka Capital Journal and later published his own newspaper, The Kansas Christian, for over 14 years.

He married Dorothy Ann Funk on October 14, 1989, at the Northland Christian Church.  She survives. Other survivors include a son, Daniel (Tracy) Daves, daughter, Wendy (Erik) Selvig, six stepchildren, Gregory (Judy) Funk, Barbara (Mike) McNeive, Steven (Laura) Funk, Kathleen (Alan) Linton, Linda (Jim) Barloon, and Carol (Bob) McGreevey. Two sisters, Carolyn Hall, Sheila Perry, along with five grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two step-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where his funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Masks are suggested.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Children’s Feeding Network, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
