Elizabeth A. Ybarra

Elizabeth Ann Ybarra, age 73, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Plaza West Care Center in Topeka.

She was born the daughter of Joe G. and Carolyn (Garcia) Ybarra on February 13, 1950. Elizabeth graduated from Hayden High School in 1968.

On January 17, 1970, she married Richard Daniel Delgado, Sr., in Topeka. To this union, Richard Daniel Delgado, Jr., was born. They later divorced and he passed away on December 16, 2005. Elizabeth worked for over 30 years and retired in 2015 as a Human Service Assistant, working with Children and Family Services for the State of Kansas.

She was an avid sports fan, always cheering her beloved Kansas City Chiefs & Royals, as well as the KU Jayhawks.

Survivors include her son, Richard Daniel Delgado, Jr., and his wife Alisha; five grandchildren, Austin Delgado and his wife Katelynne, Alexis Delgado, Noah Delgado, Ava Delgado, MariaAlicia Delgado; as well as two beloved great-granddaughters, Keira and Amelia.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Joe David Ybarra and Robert Ybarra.

She will lie in state on Monday, November 6, 2023, with family being present from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., and a rosary at 6:00 P.M., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow after the services, and she will be laid to rest at Holy Trinity Mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Contributions made will help further cancer research and help families dealing with childhood cancer, in honor of Elizabeth's own great-granddaughter, Keira, who is currently battling Ewing Sarcoma bone cancer.
