Donna (Thomas) Kelly, passed peacefully at the age of 96 on January 26, 2023, in Colorado Springs.
Donna was born in Topeka, Kansas to Rose and Chester Kennedy. She graduated from Topeka High School. She tapped danced with the Sante Fe Band and performed with the Ray Swain Dancers in Topeka. She was cited as one of the city's best dancers. She danced for veterans at the VA Hospital and USO shows during WW II.
On Nov.14, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Merle Thomas, who predeceased her. They had six children, Steve Thomas, Sandra Blackwell (deceased), Michael Thomas, Edward Thomas (deceased), Brenda Roy, and Scott Thomas (deceased). She was also blessed with 12 Grandchildren, and 35 Great Grandchildren.
Donna was a widower when she married Verle Kelly, Sr. (deceased) of Colorado Springs on June 14, 1975. They were married 37 years and shared many happy times camping in their motorhome, fishing, traveling, and celebrating many holidays and events with family and friends. They were also members of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club and enjoyed dancing and spending time with their large group of square dance friends.
Donna always had an optimistic outlook on life. She took pride in taking care of her family and making sure everyone around her was having a good time. She loved the Lord and spent time in Bible study over the years. She taught us to love the Lord, be thankful, believe in the power of prayer, follow the Golden Rule, and always remember the good times.
Her loving care and amazing smile are unforgettable and will be missed.
