David J. Centlivre, age 74, of Topeka, KS, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, July 14, 2025.
He was born the son of David J. and Doris E. (Hanson) Centlivre on September 28, 1950. David attended Holy Name Catholic Grade School and graduated from Hayden High School. After high school, David enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 5th Class.
Upon his return from the service, David held various successful careers throughout his life. He was coach carpenter with the railroad, an insurance salesman, and he excelled in every position. Always enjoying the outdoors, David loved hunting, fishing, and being outside. He was an avid softball player and loved to play golf. You could find him cheering on his favorite teams that included the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.
David made friends wherever he went. His joking demeanor could bring smiles to many, and he made sure to live life to the fullest with his adventures.
Survivors include his children, David M. Centlivre, Paul E. Centlivre, Daniel J. Richard, Grace E. Centlivre-Williams, and Garrett P. Richard. Other survivors include his eight beloved grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Centlivre (Krista), Duane Centlivre; and a sister, Diana Hafenstein (Dale).
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Denise Fuller and Dona Jones; and two nephews, Brian and Brent Fender.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 P.M., at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS with military honors.
