Darla June Jaimez, 69, passed away on August 1, 2025, at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on May 27, 1956, in Topeka, the daughter of Alvin Harris, Jr. and Darlene Marie Allen.
Darla was a graduate of Topeka High School and later continued her education at Washburn University. She was a woman who lived life with joy, faith, and a deep love for her family. A devoted Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Darla shared many happy years with her partner in life and “partner in crime,” Ray Hernandez. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Kyzik, Bodhi, and Wylee Britain, and was incredibly proud of the people they are becoming. She cherished her family above all else and held close the special memory of being by her daughter’s side when she became a mother herself.
She loved reading mystery and romance novels, making treasured memories with Ray, and being present for those she loved. Darla’s warmth, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends will be remembered by all who knew her.
Darla is survived by her significant other, Ray Hernandez; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Concepcion Britain (Shane); her grandchildren, Kyzik, Bodhi, and Wylee Britain; her brother, Steve Lynch; and her nephews, who were more like sons to her: Terry, Dustin, and Jason Lynch.
