Clifton M. Parker, age 72, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Midland Hospice House.
He was born the son of Tom Parker, Sr., and Ethel Mae (Caraway) Parker on October 28, 1950, in Taft, OK.
After Clifton graduated from Topeka High School, he continued his education at Johnson County Community College on a basketball scholarship where he obtained his associate degree in criminal justice. His love of sports combined with his athleticism created a lifetime love for working out and staying in shape.
On November 4, 2008, Clifton married Rose Marie Sumner in Topeka, KS. Together, they shared 13 years of marriage before Rose’s passing on December 23, 2021.
Clifton was a talented martial arts instructor and kickboxer. He won many fights and was well known in the Midwest, and he owned and operated a martial arts dojo in Topeka. Along with kickboxing, he enjoyed jogging, playing basketball, and being a personal trainer. He was an avid Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali fan. In his spare time, Clifton would cheer on his favorite football teams. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, that lived by the saying, “Be Like Water.”
Survivors include brother, Pastor Tommy J. Parker, Jr.; sister, Deloris D. Parker-Ashdown (Howard); sister, Beverly J. Parker-Bowen; sister, Vanessa D. Parker; Patricia Bilal; brother, Jonathan J. Parker (Carla); nephews, Pastor Thomas L. Parker (Jackie), Percy S. Bowen, Keyto J. Bowen, Greg L. Miller, Travis T. Bilal (Mandy), Tyson J. Parker, Tyrece J. Parker, Tyren J. Parker; two nieces, Vontresa Jones and Abreanna Parker. Other survivors include great-nephew, Tyrell Brown and a host of many additional great-nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose Marie Parker; brother, Rayfield Parker; and a nephew, Jeffrey A. Parker.
Visitation with viewing will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, September 13, at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the service.
