Charles R. Wilson, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at his home.
He was born October 1, 1948, in Topeka, to Francis O. Wilson and Barbara Louise (Akers) Wilson. Charles graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1966 and went on to study welding at Topeka VoTech.
Charles worked as a farmer and raised turkeys at the Wilson Turkey Farm, a bus driver for USD 437, a butcher, and a welder. He was a member of Seabrook United Church of Christ and The Southwest Topeka Bible Church.
He enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles, watching westerns on TV, welding, ceramics, and building things. Charles was a sports fan, and liked watching the Chiefs, Royals, and KU basketball. Over the years he was active in a church bowling league, playing softball, volleyball, swimming, and basketball. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, attending the Fiesta parade, and driving his 1960 Chevrolet Impala.
Charles married Teresa Maria Muñoz on April 27, 1974, in Topeka, Kansas. They celebrated 51 years together. She survives of the home with their beloved dog Snickers.
Charles and Teresa took many trips across the country. They went to visit family in Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania, and vacationed in Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas.
Other survivors include his daughter, Janée Lynn Wilson of Topeka, KS; siblings, Lonna Hough of Topeka, KS, Ray Wilson of Lenexa, KS, Sheri Barker and husband Jaimie of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Taylor Janée Wilson-Beach of Topeka, KS, Jayden Wilson-Beach of Topeka, KS; and great grandchild, Týr Wilson-Beach of Topeka, KS; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Brandon Beach; brother-in-law, Donald Hough; and sister-in-law, Reta Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Sunday, November 23, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Monday, November 24, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
Entombment will be at the mausoleum in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
