Charles "Charlie" R. Mowery, Jr.

October 1, 1955 — March 30, 2026

Carbondale

Charles “Charlie” Mowery, Jr., age 70, of Carbondale, KS, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Carbondale, following a brief illness.

He was born on October 1, 1955, in Oklahoma City, OK, the child of Charles Mowery, Sr. and the son of Michael and Alice Brown.

Charlie graduated from Burlingame High School in 1973 and was proud to have been part of the 1972 State Championship football team, a memory he carried with him throughout his life. On September 4, 1976, he married his soulmate, best friend, and the love of his life, Raymola K. Rice. Together, they shared 49 beautiful years of marriage and built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. From this union, they were blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, who were the pride and joy of Charlie’s life.

Charlie was a hardworking and dedicated man, spending 14 years with Allis-Chalmers, 14 years with Essex Wire, and retiring after 22 years with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Manufacturing. He took great pride in his work producing Earthmover Tires and being part of the two-piece tire team. While he was committed to his career, nothing was more important to him than his family. He made it a priority to be present in his children’s lives, serving as a devoted scout leader and coaching baseball and softball, creating countless cherished memories along the way.

Charlie was known for his ability to accomplish anything he set his mind to. He was a talented dancer, the family mechanic, carpenter, and builder, and someone who could always be counted on to fix, teach, or help. He took great pride in raising his children to be confident, self-reliant, and strong, instilling in them the values of hard work, resilience, and just a touch of his ornery spirit. Above all, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always offering love, guidance, and comfort when it was needed most.

He found his greatest joy in the simple moments spent with those he loved. Whether camping with his family, relaxing at the lake, fishing, or sitting around sharing stories and laughter, those were the times that meant the most to him. After retirement, he especially enjoyed spending time with his close group of friends, affectionately known as the “Quit Your Bitching” crew, sharing laughs and a cold beer. Charlie also loved riding motorcycles, enjoying food from the “Down South” food truck, and unwinding while listening to his favorite artists, including Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, and Michael Jackson.

Charlie’s life was a true reflection of love, dedication, and strength. His legacy will live on through the family he cherished so deeply and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering presence. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Charlies was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Alice Brown; his father, Charles Mowery, Sr.; and his son, Michael Mowery.
